Helping researchers look up — and forward.
Tsubame Lab is a tech company that works alongside research institutions to raise the potential of their R&D.
About Tsubame Lab
We are a lab automation startup founded by researchers from Science Tokyo. In the lab, much experimentation still depends on manual work, and researchers' creative time is consumed by repetition. Having felt that pain firsthand, our mission is to automate every action and unlock the full potential of R&D.
By combining collaborative robots, functional modules, and our own control platform, Tsubame Studio, we automate everything from sample prep to measurement and recording. Because one team holds life-science expertise, hardware engineering, and AI/software engineering together, we can deliver things that actually work to the research floor.

Mission
Tsubame Lab is a startup born out of Science Tokyo, founded on the mission “Robotics, as a choice for everyone.”
Creating a new research environment where people and robots work together — so researchers can focus on more creative work — is where we begin.
“The more AI accelerates hypothesis generation and analysis, the more important physical experimentation becomes. We want to build an environment where researchers spend less time on repetitive work and more on the essential questions and judgments.”
Our Story
The challenges we felt in the lab are where Tsubame Lab began.
Our CEO, Narazaki, repeatedly faced the reality that so much experimentation depends on manual labor, eroding creative time. Even as instruments and robots advance, manual work remains in connecting devices and adapting to individual experiments. We founded Tsubame Lab to resolve that structural bottleneck.
“Build a future where researchers can spend their time on research itself.” That conviction is what drives Tsubame Lab today.
